The Jr. Jet's name honours Bridgetta (Jet) Fumerton, a local women's hockey player, advocate, and leader. Jet was one of the founders of Creston's women's hockey team in the early 1970s, which became known as the Creston Jets by the 1980s. She held the title of Canada's Oldest Female Hockey Player for years and has hockey artifacts in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

In September 2023, Jet celebrated her 100th birthday and was featured on Hockey Night in Canada that fall. Sadly, she passed away just days later.

In March 2024, a banner was raised in the Johnny Bucyk Arena to honour her legacy, and the female development program announced it will carry on her work by creating a new brand - Creston Jr. Jets - for our female hockey initiatives.
While still part of CVMHA, the program now has a distinct identity aligned with our local female teams/programs, both youth (Jr. Jets) and adult (Jets). A new logo was designed to support jerseys and merchandise for all CVMHA female players and supporters.
